Multicultural consultation services

Summerville Women’s Mental Health Services (SWMHS) offers inclusive, affirming, lived experience, culturally competent multicultural peer consultation for therapists working with culturally diverse populations.

Multiculturalism is the coexistence of multiple cultures. The word is used in sociology, in political philosophy, and colloquially. In sociology and everyday usage, it is usually a synonym for ethnic or cultural pluralism in which various ethnic and cultural groups exist in a single society.

We provide multicultural education to therapists and offer support for mental health-related issues regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Although we work with all ethnic, cultural, racial, and religious communities, our expertise is in working with the veteran community, the Latino/Hispanic/Latinx community, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

We also offer bilingual consultation services for providers working with Spanish-speaking client cases.
